Photographs from the series’ Overland Reverie and Victoria
This selection of colour photographs is part of an ongoing body of work. Taken around Cape Town, and while traveling through South Africa, they are photographs of the everyday.
The camera has captured scenes of landscapes, which have been manipulated, seemingly by anonymous or invisible forces. These events are significant to me because they capture the strange in the mundane. The camera is cumbersome to set up, giving me time to compose an image as an unnoticed observer, and archiving that moment in time. An underlying theme and interest throughout my work is empty space, and its relation to the structures that surround it.
